Scandals of Secularism

Secularism has come to light in the wake of the collapse of the Islamic Caliphate in 1924 by Kemal Ataturk, corroding the flesh of the Islamic Caliphate until it collapsed . Secularism suggests the isolation of religion from life; i.e. the confinement of religion only to the mosque and keeping it away from all other aspects of life such as conduct, morals, law, and policy.

Secularism emerged first in Europe and can be correctly translated into non religion . It is a term having nothing to do with word Science or scientism . The first one to call for the separation of religion from government was Martin Luther  (1473-1546) , who was considered by Europe as a leader of the religious reform.

If the revolution of the  Christians against their religion and announcement of Secularism is taken for granted, it is because of certain reasons :

First of all ,  the oppression practised on the intellects and the war launched by the church against learning and scholars  and against every new or invented issue  as well as  the laws , indulgence, and deprivation  issued by the church .This was in consideration of the Pope's decision in 1215 of his eligibility to forgive sins, then his decision in 1869 of  being infallible, and lastly the economic , political, and social oppression under the domination of feudalism.

The other reason why the Christians were right when they revolted against their religion is that they found it inconsistent with the requirements of the modern age and so rejecting evolution. In fact, it is far from being consistent with knowledge since it was corrupted by human beings.

But what is wrong with our natives and kins who speak the same tongue and have the same race of ours ? Why have they started to advocate secularism in our lands ? Do they believe that Islamic Religion is similar to the deformed Christianity as to call for the separation of  the Islamic Jurisprudence (Shari'a) from life?

Secularism in Education

Many voices ranged out earlier this century supporting secularism and they achieved their goals, taking into account that secularism has been applied in education in order to mold a generation that is ignorant of its religion , proud of the western civilization, and malicious towards Islam and Muslims. In this context, the reader reserves the right to have a proof. Hence, let's listen to the former Egyptian Minister of Education, Writer Taha Husain, who evidenced this fact in his book The Future of Education in Egypt .

 He says, " We have, however set up the backbone of education in our country, and established its curricula and programs since the recent century , undoubtedly, in the purely European style. We bring up our students in the elementary, secondary, and academic schools in a purely European way."

Secularism in Judiciary

Seculars have arranged to issue positive laws in violation of the true construction of the family and the relationship between husband and wife, particularly their attitude towards deviation, adultery, theft, and disgracing. I do not think that the Arab reader will make argument with me about this very point, but if it is necessary for him to discuss this point, let him review Articles 267 to 279 of the Egyptian Criminal Law and Articles 232 to 240 of the Iraqi Criminal Law.

Secularism in The Media

Originally, Islam should have been  the intellectual and cultural scope of anything presented by the readable, and audio-visual Media. Means of media is considered to be the most influencing means upon the intellects, spirits , and thoughts of people .Thus, secularization of media means keeping the media topic that is presented to the Mass void of the Islamic intellectual and cultural content. If secularism in education is older and more dangerous, yet in the media it is more extensive and comprehensive. Through an analytic study made by an Arab center in 1986 of the programs presented by the Arab Media, it has become apparent that 85% of such programs encourage crimes , violation of traditions and customs, and moral decadence. If we take into consideration that this study was made in 1986, i.e. before the spread of the satellite dishes, you can conclude now what the situation is.

Effect of Secularism on the Youth

The seculars have focused on this group and made their hardest efforts to influence the youth because of their important role in the daily life. Thus,  to abuse this group was the first of their plans, and so they have managed to mix males with females in schools and universities so that the young would be converted from their more eminent objectives and be kept in conflict with the false love and passion. They managed to develop cinemas, prostitution houses, and mixed entertainment places. They have done all this in order to bring up a generation with a deformed identity, with a poor language, and with shallow education; a paralyzed generation in all the senses of the word.

Effect of Secularism on Woman

Woman has got the lion's share out of secularism meaningless and false slogans and sophism  by calling for the liberation of woman. They tried to transfer woman liberation issue which took place in Europe to our Arab Land due to their ignorance and absence of realization of the recitals for the liberation of woman in the West. Do they think that we share the reasons which motivated the women of the West to fight for liberation? Are these reasons existing in our lands as to make the seculars say ,

" Liberate woman? "

This issue in Europe was logical, at least  in  its appearance, taking into account that the woman in the West suffered constant social oppression in all fields of life: She was considered as the source of sins; the origin of vice and immorality; she was the gate of Hell and the agent of wickedness. She was not considered to be human being, but an atrocity  of devil. Macon's assembly gathered in the 5^th Century A.D. and decided that woman had no spirit to salvage her from Hellfire excluding the Mother of  Christ Jesus. In 586, the French held a meeting to discuss whether woman was to be considered as human being or not. Finally, they decided that woman is a human being but is created only to serve the man . And thus they kept on scorning the woman : She is junior with no authority to dispose of her properties  but is a merchandise to be sold by the man as provided under the English Law in 1805. And when the woman has to work, she will be given half the wages of the man . As such, there was an issue for which the fair people should revolt to establish the woman's rights . But if we go back to our Islamic Shari'a; who considered the woman as a source of evil? who gave her half the wages of the man? who considered her junior? Why then the ravens of our kins keep croaking for woman  liberation ? The woman as a whole has never found so just law towards her as Islam . Allah (to Him ascribed all majesty & glory ) equalized between man and woman .In this context, Allah says "  Those who make good deeds , whether male or female , will be favored with Paradise and will never be wronged a bit "

Prophet Mohammad ( May Allah bless him and grant him salvation) , in his Farewell Sermon, said :

" I urge you to take care of women ."

Islam is the sole legislative law that has  entitled the woman to inheritance and therefore women of the West who embrace Islam are far more than men.

The seculars, when they found they have had no actual issue to struggle for- particularly Islam has conferred upon the woman all her rights- concentrated on woman's veil. So, when women  led by Safia Zaghlool, wife of Sa'ad Zaghlool, demonstrated in front of Nile Palace and denounced occupation , they immediately and premeditatedly stripped off their veil, threw it on the ground, poured petrol,  set it on fire , and thus the woman was liberated !!

One would be surprised at this play because it is void of logic. What is the relationship between the demonstration against the British occupation and the removal of the veil ? Did the English force the Egyptian Muslim woman to put on  the veil so that the demonstrating women would vex the English by stripping it off  and putting it on fire? As a matter of fact, nothing would be happier and more enjoyable to the English than that day. And to immortalize that anniversary, the Isma'iliyya Square, in which the veil was thrown away, had been later on called Al-Tahrir (Liberation) Square.

They actually were able to seclarize the Muslim woman; through a quick glimpse at the status of the Muslim girls, you can conclude this bitter reality. The Muslim girl nowadays  passes most of her time watching T.V., listening to the songs more than listening to the recitation of the Holy Qur'an -this is if she actually  listens to the Holy Qur'an- , and  reading the low absurd magazines much more than reading the Holy Qur'an and the useful books . Many of them know nothing about prayers or the whereabouts of the Holy Kaaba (prayer niche , Kibla) .They are totally concerned with the latest styles and fashions ; Their example is this female  or that male artist. The woman is not to blame ; It is secularism that is to blame and be prosecuted.

Finally, there is the secularism of the family. As a result of the effective role played by secularism in education, media, youth, and woman, we can conclude that the real status of the Arab family is a natural outcome of the vicious principles transplanted and watered by secularism . So the plants have yielded but  bitter fruit. The father is far from religion; the mother is busy with the latest hair styles and fashions; the kids are busy with the immoral satellite channels, being introduced to the house by the father on the request of the mother.. Hence, how will the kids be brought up ? If there is any concern from the father, his concern is focused on wordly matters and aspects.

Houses without prayers or recitation of the Holy Qur'an are devil haunts. It is time for the Arab family to follow the teaching of Islam in their houses and remove the dirty cover of secularism for ever.

Danger of Secularism in the Arab & Muslim World

The application of the secular system in education, judiciary and law, media, culture, government and other respects of life was the most important means utilized by the colonizationists, Crusades, and their Arab henchmen for the purpose of keeping Islam away from all spheres of life, and consequently isolating Muslims from their Heavenly religion. In this way they can create the Western characters in terms of ideology, systems, behavior, and customs under an Arab Islamic name, at the same time applying the ingredients of the Western characters with more zeal.

Taha Hussein , in his book Future of Education, says :

Our material life is European especially in the high classes; in other classes it is different in terms of distance from the European life according to the capabilities and wealth of individuals and communities. This means that money is the ideal of people ; our life with its different aspects and colors is purely European . The regime is purely European copied from Europe without hesitation. If we are to find fault with ourselves in this respect we only find fault with our being slow in copying the traditions, styles , and policies of the Europeans.

Whatever the case will be, the application of secularism in the Arab and Muslim World is enormously critical, among the dangers are :

1- The legislation of the evil shall be supposed to be better than the legislation of Islam, which is a denial of the Law of Allah .

Allah says : " Thou want the rule of paganism ? Who hath better rule than Allah's for those who believe ? "

2- They allege that they have more knowledge than Allah and more wise to provide for themselves, whereas Allah says :

" Thou are not given but the least knowledge."

3- They allege that the law of Allah is incomplete and that events and issues undergone by people as if Allah were not acquainted with . This is denial to the limitless knowledge of Allah.

Allah says : " Now I have perfected your religion, fully favored you with my grace , and accepted for you Islam as a religion . "

Through the three evidences, it has become obvious that the Islamic Nation by applying secularism in the affairs of life, has committed serious religious violations both in this life and Resurrection , taking into account that this Nation can only establish its civilization on the pillars of its characters that is derived from the principles of Islam, its thoughts, regulations, teachings, and behavior, and not from the ideology of Western secularism or its regulations and conduct. Therefore, the Nation now undergoes struggle between originality and dependence, between Islamic recovery and Western Secularism , between the Islamic and Western personalities in all aspects of life.

The Attitude of Islam Towards Secularism and its Supporters

Secularism is contrary to Islam even if its heralds take Islamic names, pray, and hypocritically believe, because their false belief is useless for them unless they put the Law of Allah into practice. Those who studied about pre-Islamic Paganism which was contemporary to the Islamic period, can notice that the people who embraced such belief never denied the existence of Allah . They used to profess one God in most of His actions such as creation, subsistence, providence, creatures, honesty. There are many testimonies of this :

Allah says : " If you ask them who created the Heavens and the Earth, they will say Allah."

Also : " And who provide, they will say Allah."

They used to believe in the angels : " Those who do not like to meet us say if He has not sent down to us the angels."

In addition, the Arabs who embraced paganism used to have certain worshiping rites such as glorifying the Kaaba, circumambulation around Kaaba, standing in Arafat, glorifying the Holy months, blood sacrifices, vows to Allah as in the story of Abdul-Mutallib, Grandfather of Prophet Mohammad, sacrifices given to the Holy Kaaba, and allocation of plantation and cattle to Allah . Allah says in this context :" They allocated a share to Allah out of their plantation and livestock."

These are in addition to the morals maintained by the society at that time. But , after all, what did Allah consider that society , and what is the worth of these values compared to the standard of Islam?

Allah decided that that society is atheist and ignorant . He regarded all those values null in the balance of Islam . He would never forgive them because of their high poetry, rhetoric, or eloquence; neither would He forgive them for their traditions and chivalry . He rather described them as IGNORANCE . This is because the Pre-Islamic Pagans rejected to go on the right path established by Allah. " Those who never rule according to the Holy Qur'an are disbelievers."

Secularism is nowadays the Pre-Islamic Paganism of the Twentieth Century because it is deviation from the Celestial System in life and adoption of other worldly systems . This is ignorance of Allah, His right Path, and His Law.
